I'm surprised your dr didn't offer clomiphene as an option, there are a number of girls on here, myself included who ovulate by ourselves but have been prescribed it. It seemed to do the trick for me. My progesterone level was always higher during clomiphene cycles which may have helped things along.

Maybe worth a shot before your IVF cycle? Hi Ladies,

Thanks for your replies it's great to see some success stories too!

I'm not on clomiphene, the doctor has advised me that I'm ovulating normally so no need to go on it...

We just found out that my DH sperm count has gone down by 20% in 1yr - he's only 31!! So the Dr wants us to go forward for IVF asap!! We start in April. I won't lie, I'm very nervous of all the drugs they will give me especially the EC and injections but I just have to remind myself what this is for....

Hi Louloubell, have you been on clomiphene? I had lap surgery to remove endo and got pregnant after 4 months on clomiphene but miscarried so am now trying again! Before I got pregnant my specialist did mention that the next thing to try would be IVF as the success rate with IUI is pretty low, but I guess that's just one opinion. It's a really tough one, isn't it? Your Dr at FA will be able to go over the two options with you, because there might be specifics of your individual situation that sway the odds in favour of one or the other.

One thing to look at is the funding - we were told that we could forgo one of our publicly funded IVF cycles in favour of three IUI cycles. In many cases, three cycles of IUI is more likely to result in a pregnancy than one of IVF (while the rate is lower for one cycle, three of them have a pretty good shot). There were other complicating factors in there for us - and in the end we didn't need either

Cut a long story short after 18months of trying to fall pregs natually then 3 cycles of clomid, first cycle of IUI worked:) Now have a wonderful little 9.5month boy. I would give IUI a go, I didn't have any endo issues though, just unexplained infertility like Scaredy Cat.

Yup, he's a welsh springer x border collie
we shipped him over from the UK to NZ cause we
adore him soooo much!!!

I too had an op but it went terribly wrong I ended up getting an infection and had to have another op 48 hrs later to remove the infection. Been in & out of hospital all last year.... so I'm thinking my doctor may put me on IUI first because my health has been up & down... I dunno I suppose I'll just wait and see...

Hi louloubell, didn't want to read and run and just had to say how gorgeous your dog is in your photo, what a sweetie!! Is it a spaniel? We have a Welsh Springer spaniel and gives us the same kinda look!!

Anyway, that was way off topic, sorry.

I have had two ops to remove mild endo and have done a full round of IVF which resulted in two pg's and unfort 2 m/c's.

Whilst waiting for our next round of IVF I talked to our specialist about IUI and she agreed that it would be worth having a go, we have unexplained infertility so I would def talk to your specialist about it at your appointment. I don't know why we didn't try IUI before IVF, we just followed the specialists advice at the time.

IUI is a lot less intrusive than full on IVF and you could be one of the lucky ones that IUI works for.

Hi girls,

We have our first fertility appt on Wed and wondering if we should bypass IUI & go straight to IVF to save money in the long run? Do you know anyone had IUI and been successful with endo?
