It sounds like you already feel like things are going downhill at her daycare & your mothers intuition is telling you that it's not right. I would definitely move my son if any one of those things you mentioned were happening let alone all of them.
Your DD will be fine & make new little friends very quickly. She can still have playdates with her old daycare mates if you organise it.

I wouldn't feel safe leaving her there, so I would definitely change her... and I'd report the centre to the MOE cos that just sounds so dodgy to me! esp being that the centre is on a main road...

Ive heard a few similar TTing issues at different centres as well - it's terrible IMO. It is their job to meet the needs of each child (as per Te Whariki) and that means supporting TTing plans (as per the Wellbeing strand in the document). I've heard of one centre that refused to have a child in undies until she was fully trained I mean how's that possible without the support of the centre ... grrr makes me angry! ... I am fortunate that my wee one's centre has been so brilliant with TTing and when she was first learning they took her every hour and never once put her in a nappy... but that is how it should be IMO

what the others have said. ALso, I just moved my 3.5yr old, not because I had any serious problems...(my 2 yr old still goes there) but because I felt another centre was going to be better for him. Well, changing was NO hassle at all. In fact he didnt even want me to stay with him on the first day...just drop him off and away he went. He has spent the first 2 days excitedly exploring everything new. So dont worry about changing. She will settle in fast! I would change, and perhaps make a call to the ministry about them. The gate/front door thing and the toilet thing are both really bad. A few days/weeks of being a bit unsettled as she starts a new centre is a million-fold better than her being runover!!

I wouldn't leave her where she obviously isn't safe. I'd also make it clear WHY you were pulling her out in the hope they'll clean up their act for the sake of the other children.

Ava has been in the same daycare since she was 1 - she is now 2 1/2. She seems to like it - she has 2 best friends and talks about the teachers all of the time HOWEVER over the last few months some things have come to my attention:

The teachers don't 'get' safety - ie, they leave the front door open and are casual about closing the inside gate - a child could get out at any time and they are on a very busy road. I have spoken to both the director and the area manager about this and they promised to put 'close the gate' signs up and be more diligent - this was about 4 months ago and nothing has happened.

Also, Ava has been getting bitten viciously by mosquitos from the next door neighbours plants and daycare acknowledge this yet they don't do anything about it. She has bites all over her! We have asked the director to speak to the neighbours to trim back the plants or do something but nothing has been done yet (this was about a week ago). Other kids have been getting bitten lots too.

Thirdly, We are currently in the process of trying to toilet train Ava and i was told that they would take her to the toilet every hour or so. I just found out yesterday that they in fact only take her twice a day due to the teacher ratio levels - no wonder we arent getting anywhere and no wonder she has taken her nappy off several times and smeared poo all over herself. Not to mention the fact that she came home in sh*tty (literally!) clothes the other day.

What would you do? Speaking to the Director does no good - they are so slack. There have been other things that I havent been overly happy with over the year and a half she has been going but I let them go. Should i just up and change her daycare?
