Bexee I have the exact same problem its definetly a ritual/comfort thing for my DD too. She is pretty bad that she will finish a 200 mls bottle and demand more! I water it down then. I think watering down part will be ok but when I actually take the bottle away...I would hate to think what thats going to be like!

I got my DS off bottles before 12 months before he had a chance to get attached.   I had heard that older toddlers become attached to bottles. To me it always looks strange to see a toddler drinking out of a babies bottle.
Maybe hide the bottles so he can't see them? I know my DS loves his milk & if he sees his milk sippy cup he'll demand it. So I keep it hidden away in the dishwasher. My DS only has one 200ml sippy cup of milk per day. He is 20 months old.

bexee - was thinking about it today and i'm not sure 3 bottles is too much for his age. Unless it's interfering with his appetitie for solids. My DS is the same, this morning he hardly ate anything but had 3 bottles! Though usually he'd only have 2 in that time and one at bed.

When DS asks (he signs bottle) I give him water first and then offer a snack and sometimes that's enough. Might have to try the watering down/reducing amount approach. He does drink water out of a normal cup but not so much formula. My bil started watering their daughters milk down slowly over a couple of weeks and reducing the total amount too. So she was taking less calories from the milk and that really helped her eating more.

We've put DS on 2 half bottles (100ml) and 1 full bottle before bed. I'm sure he'd drink a full bottle 3 times a day if we'd let him
I know I find it hard to say 'no' to my wee man so I do feel for you, but I try to stick to what I've said. Does he like drinking from a big boys' cup? A lot of preschoolers wean that way.

How about "No it's not time for a bottle but you can have [some banana/a piece of cheese] if you like. You are just going to have to be a bit tougher and not give in, even though I know its hard!

So darling son is 18 months and is too attached to bottles. He still has 3 x 200ml a day when he's at home with us. On daycare days he just has morning and night.

I KNOW he should be eating more, and drinking less, but when he's in the kitchen pointing at his bottles or asking for them, I do give in a little. I just hate the fighting.
