I had some creams in my babys cloth nappies when i had been forgetting to use a liner to protect them and so i put them in a hot wash to get rid of it but they still didnt absorb as well so i soaked them for 24 hours in cold water and they went back to normal. I use BabyFirst brand. But it sounds like she may be holding it for all at one as stated above or may be wiggling in a way that they slide around on her? Yeah, I was thinking build up of detergent, maybe? Or maybe she just wees more.

I don't think it'll be the dryer that's done it. It takes a few years for nappies to wear out, and they dont wear out in absorbancy, the elastic, PUL or stitching goes first. I would say she is holding onto her pee for longer and when she goes there is more than the nappy can handle. How is the leg elastic holding up? I had this problem when the leg elastic started to go in some of my nappies. Also again recently because there is a build up of cream on the liners so the pee is running off instead of through. Another reason (I've found this starting with my daughter who is a similar age) she could be "holding on" then weeing in one big go, which is flooding the nappy and its just not able to absorb it fast enough.

Are you leaving them on longer than normal?

a nappy will normally leak because the fit isn't right and there are gaps or they are being left on too long or your child is weeing more (which is normal as they grow).

So i have had DD in cloth since she was born. the last week she seems to wee through them a lot more than she has ever done. Is this because they are wearing out over time in absorbity (sp?) or is it beacause i tumble dried them the other day? she hasnt been drinking any more water than before they started leaking a bit.
