I bought a Manduca after my son was born because he constantly needed to be held and the Manduca had the built-in newborn seat as opposed to some of the other carriers that require you to buy an extra insert for newborns, but he never seemed comfortable in there so we didn't get to use it much... I really wanted it to work because it felt quite comfortable but even though my son needed to be held he never liked to cuddle so probably no carrier would have worked for him. I just bought one this week from Ecomoon (they also do layby's I believe) with 20% off (sorry that special has finished now) Was a total bargain at $184 for the new olive colour. I didn't try before buying but knew I wanted to continue wearing my baby but we both found the Moby a bit of a mission. I was easily sold on it! Held off buying one for about a week then this sale came up so I couldn't pass the discount up! It's my Mum's day pressie to me. Joseph is super comfy in it as am I. Bit late here too, but just saw your comment on the reflux baby lostamber. Baby wearing was a lifesaver for my severe refluxer (yes, it got a bit gross with DD chucking right down my cleavage, but you got pretty good at wiping it up!) and it kept her sooo much happier than anything else I could do. As long as she was nicely upright, she'd grizzle rather than scream, which was huge for us! And she'd often sleep on me too.

I started with a wrap at 4 weeks (the day that arrived in the post was the best day EVER!), and then switched to the manduca at about 6 months with no problems.

So it might be worth getting someone in the know to have a look at how you are wearing it, as most reflux babies get huge relief from being upright and rocked.

Im a bit late to the party, but Im another Manduca convert!!
I love mine, the pram doesnt get used, at all! Ive bought the latest LE (I am in LOVE!) and I have a chocolate one too. FIgure the 2nd one will come in handy when number 2 arrives
I did try one before I bought mine, but I would have bought it with out buying it, and I hated giving hte one I hired back! I love my Manduca, and I didn't try before buying either, however do try your local babyonthemove store if you want to, they stock them and are happy to give trials.

We got one for the next baby but decided to get it sooner and use it with our now 1 yr old, its wonderful. Did the walk in a duathlon with her, she even fell asleep halfway round! My bub has some reflux too and I find wearing her is great! she is upright and has some pressure on her tummy which helps her feel better...

I have one (and would love a second one so I didn't have to keep adjusting it as DH loves it too lol) and use it all the time. Sooooo comfy (and MrsEmma - definitely not impossible with a bump. I used to put DS on my hip and swing him around, but haven't been able to do that for a while with the bump in the way ha ha, so he just climbs on).

I've worn him on my back for an entire two days (Mystery Creek field days) other than meal times and he was totally fine - comfy, slept etc... I was totally comfy the entire time too. Didn't swap him for the bags of crap everyone else was carrying (and moaning about how heavy they were getting )

I tried out a friends Manduca a couple of times (just for a few mins each time) as did DH and that's all it took to convince us we wanted one. I haven't used it since we bought it (a bit hard with my bump though I'm sure not impossible!) but DH has and he loooooves it. I see it as a fantastic investment and I won't be getting a double pram until I see if I can just use my single plus the Manduca.

Definitely get a manduca, they are awesome!! Just ordered mine now, have been meaning to for ages but kept forgetting lol. Mum paid for it coz they offered to get us a double buggy but I said I'd rather a Manduca

Tweedle does $50 bond with $5 per week for 6 weeks but only pay the $50 and would get back 20 of the bond if you didn't purchase! If you do buy one you get that hireage cost put towards the manduca so well worth it!

Hehe, mamaT, my manduca was a much better investment than my pram too!

I didn't try it first, although I did have a friend with a huuuge baby recommend it and I figured if she could carry her heavy bub around, it would be fine for me. I love it. No regrets at all.

I got it cheaper by buying from and Aussie site, but not sure if that'd still be the case depending on exchange rate etc.

You could try tweedle for hiring one first. I personaly woudnt bother trying before you buy, I've never once heard anyone regret buying their Manduca.
I've had mine for a year now, I wear it every single day, some days for 6+ hours at a time, as someone else said, it was by far my best baby purchase. I'm hoping to get a limited edition one as well soon, if DH would let me, i'd sell the pram to fund it

Love my manduca (bought mine from Baby on the Move).

I think they're usually the same price in most stores, but occasionally you'll see specials where they have the limited edition prints for the same price as the regular ones.

If you do a quick search on trade me for used manducas and baby bjorns there are no manducas and a heap of baby bjorns. Love the Manduca, I got mine on special for $195 from My Natural Baby at the parent and child show but haven't seen them that cheap again.

Nothing crappy about then I can think of, great thing is that they have a life time warranty on all the zips, buckles etc.

Tweedle.co.nz also sell them and do layby...and so do Cheeky Cherubs.co.nz. They also both do free shipping on them.
I think they online stores are all about the same and often have 10-15% off sales so if you've got some time up your sleeve you could hold out for a sale.

I didn't try one out first, just bought one online and haven't regretted the investment one bit! In fact, I'm considering buying a second one so I'll have 2 (to go with different outfits!). We use it almost everyday too and totally love it! I had a Baby Bjorn and sold it to fund the Manduca...it was so uncomfortable for me and I think for DS too...especially once he got over about 6kg.

You s hould try before you buy with that kinda expense. If money is tight you should also try out the ergo. I have the ergo and love it and its cheaper, by quite alot if you buy from the right place. I use mine every day- It has been one of the best baby purchases we made and I'm so glad we did! Its easy to adjust from me to DH (who is tall and skinny), its comfortable and DS is happy to sleep in it too. I see it as a bit of an investment. :)

I searched the net for negatives about Manducas and couldn't really find anything. It does take a wee bit of learning to get the hang of using one, but they come with easy to follow instructions. :)

I bought mine from Scamps Boutique - I was attracted to them as they offer a layby service which I opted for. I was really nervous about spending the $$ on a manduca and luckily a friend loaned me one to try before I bought my own. I am totally in love with mine - and I never really saw myself as the baby wearing kind until I got it. It is so incredibly comfortable and easy to wear. 

Do you know anyone that could let you try theirs on before you buy?

Hi all
Looking at getting a Manduca....

Firstly, where is the best place to buy one from (and does the price vary from place to place?)

Secondly, should I wait until bubs gets here to get one? As in should I try one on with her in it first before spending the money on one?

Thirdly, what are the crappy (if any) features about them?

eta: my SIL has a friend who offered to sell me a BabyBjorn synergy for $80 (in new condition, worth $250) but I want the manduca...would I be nuts to pass this up? Have heard a lot better things about the manduca though....any thoughts?
