We've attached a hose on to the toilet (at the connection, before water goes into the cistern.. older houses only I think!). I'm the same Jen lol
I usually use the Johnsons liners (which last thru the wash a couple of times), and hold it in the loo and flush to get off as much a possible, anything that's left gets scrubbed off in the laundry sink with an old nail brush.

All the water goes to the same place anyway so it doesn't bother me too much. You could also do the vinegar/baking soda rinse thru the drain every now and again to clear the gunk out.

I have a showerhead attachment, but alas no sink next to the toilet!

I have a son who very rarely does formed poos (is it weird that I get a little excited on the rare occasions that all the poo is on the liner and that it just rolls off?). The microfleece liner usually catches about 80%, I just use loo paper to wipe the worst off the liner and nappy, then rinse the rest off in the laundry sink. I try not to scrub, I just gently rub the the nappy fabric together to get it off. For those of you who want a sprayer but don't have the right plumbing, do you have a sink next to your toilet? Most of the time we have to use a scraper, so we have an old scraper tool in the bathroom cupboard. Yea, now he's on solids, it's just tipped into the loo. When he was still just on milk, I just scrubbed it off in the laundry sink - I had a brush reserved for that purpose

We've only just started getting solid poos but I've always used washable liners so I just shake them into the loo, then hold tight and flush...to get most of the solid bit off. I also try to use flushable liners if I think a poo might be due...so much easier! Any bit that gets on the nappy, usually not much, comes off with a pre-rinse before I wash the nappies.
Had a shocker yesterday...in a hurry to go out, forgot to use any liner and whaddya know, biggest number 2s yet! It was not fun...used toilet paper as per MamaT's description above

If its runny (DS has been a bit sick lately), I scrape off using toilet paper. Any residue gets washed off in the machine. I use a flushable liner, most of the time they get 70-80% of it, if I dont use a liner and the whole nappy gets covered? I know it sounds gross but I just leave it to dry a bit (bout an hour or 2) then use some toilet paper and it kinda "flops" off into the loo lol, cnt do it straight away, gotta wait for it to dry haha

Im not that worried, T only goes once a day and I do nappy washing every 3 days so I know theres only ever 3 poo naps in the wash. Ours roll off most of the time, or if they are squishy I get most of it into the loo then use hot water and a scrubby brush in the laundry sink. Yes, anything left gets cleaned with an old dishbrush and down the laundry sink. Most of the time they just roll off into the loo now though. Hold it...and flush...! Genius!! Fortunatly Max rarely poos in cloth, he seems like do all that at night into a sposie but once the liner wore it all but the other time... i had no idea what to do. I ended up putting it in the machine on prewash then adding the rest of the clothes to finish the cycle. If it's not a formed poo (which can just be shaken into the toilet), I use our sprayer and spray it off into the toilet.

It's not a fancy nappy sprayer either; it's a $15 showerhead hose attachment that fits over the taps in the bathroom sink. The sink is just next to the toilet, so I can just spray into it. I've done a quick search but cant seem to find an answer what do you 'do' with the poo??

Floyd did the hugest poo earlier (up the back etc) the small amount that was on the liner went down the loo along with some more that I kinda wiped off with flushable wipes, but honestly there was more poo than hes ever done before and I had no idea what to do with the poo that missed the liner and went all over the nappy in the end it went down the laundry sink using a brush and tap on full!!!
