Hey BG all is really good with us, Lily is sitting up, crawling and pulling up to stand, she is also taking a few steps holding just one of my hands..ahhhhh!

It has been a wonderful 9.5 months and is everything I hoped it would be. I'm sorry your lil one needs a brace I hope it all goes smoothly and as quickly as possible. So exciting about TTC again, I am not sure on that yet, definitely want to go back to work for a while.

Lily loves food generally but HATES egg a lot! She had eggplant parmigiana tonight for dinner and loved it!

Hey ladies!

Everything is going well here apart from all of us being sick.
Lexie is in daycare 5 days a week as I went back to work at the beginning of July. She loves it there which is great. She kept us up last night and I have some kind of virus/throat infection so she is at daycare today while I stay home and rest up for probably another rough night
This morning she was sooo much closer to crawling, she just doesn't realise she needs to move her hands but she isn't far off (so I think). She is also sitting up all by herself, has been since about 6 months.
I can't believe how old/big she is getting! Time goes far too fast!
I hope everyone else is well and babies are doing great <3
I hope H is out of her brace quickly but I'm sure she will be fine xx

DD loves yoghurt here too, though nothing seems to top my mum's chicken and vege soup.

She loves sitting but doesn't see any point in moving yet. No teeth through, though they can't be far away as she's coming and going with teething signs every other day this week.

at least your wee girl is in a brace instead of a heavy cast :) they look uncomfortable even on wee babes

Yeah, just the last few months. Hoping it doesn't take too long! Trying hard not to get too caught up in the whole ttc thing again. Time isn't on my side....but thinking its gonna be busy with two so close so I'm not too stressed at this stage. I'll cope though.
Solids is a fun game hey - tried giving Miss some egg today and she gagged and spat it back at me. She just prefers yoghurt. Haha. Cant live on that forever. Brace went on today and so far so good. Lucky she is a pretty chilled out baby. Glad to hear all is well with you wee one

Sucky that your lil one needs a brace BG but its great that at least shes getting the help she needs to get better/stronger. This really is a fun age aye. Im loving my lil lady, she now has 5 teeth is soooo close to crawling (she can only do 2 steps at a time) not really into solids yet shes just way too busy to eat!!

No one really seems to come on here so much anymore, everyone is over on the facebook group. Let me know if you guys wanna join or if your happy just staying in here

Hi BG! M is about the same as you wee one (well not that they are so wee yet huh?) He is sitting on his own but no intention on moving anywhere and hates lying down unless he is pantless :) He has started walking in his walker though which is rather scary! Thankfully DH put the gate over the stairs before he went to work. Michael has 5 teeth and I thought the 6th was popping through but I can't see the break in gum again this morning so who knows

Hi January Mummy's, how is everyone doing? Think about everyone often and hope things are going well. Miss H is a wee gem, she is at such a cool wee age now. Spotted her first tooth coming through this morn! Not crawling yet but sits ok on her own with a bit of support. Found out a month or so ago that her hip sockets are not deep enough so she has to wear a brace for a few months which was a bit gutting....but its for the best. Solids are going well, she is sleeping through the night (most of the time!) and is a happy little cherub (most of the time!). Anyway, be nice to hear from you if you come back on here from time to time. Take care

Wow Evelyn! That is one big bubba for a natural birth, congratulations to you and your hubby for a big gorgeous Grayson (love the name)!

Sorry to hear about your tear, I hope you are taking it easy and recovering well. I had a small but kinda deep tear but MW didn't give me stitches (yay) but after having Lexie on the 9th Jan it still hasn't completely healed (I can tell when I wee)...I will get it checked out again but last time MW checked it was almost done, not red or 'oozing' (eww lol) so hopefully it is done soon. It was my fault for doing too much and not sitting properly...no one told me not to sit cross-legged!

Very quiet on here, lots of busy mums with little babies!
Lexie will be 6 weeks on Monday, can't believe how fast the time has gone! She is doing well at sleeping, usually only waking once during the night on a good night :)
My mum was telling me that when everyone else's babies are sleeping through the night to just lie and say mine was too (this is what she did with her coffee group) but we have been lucky so far.
She is feeding well but won't take a bottle, going to start trying everyday as I want her to be able to take a bottle when I go back to work. She is doing well with the Medela Calma bottle so will persevere

Congratulations to everyone with new arrivals! Me included

My due date was the 19th Jan, but our little Grayson decided to wait out until 1st Feb. First baby, 9lbs, 15.5oz. Just half an oz shy of 10lbs!!!! Was definitely a shock when he popped out.

My contractions started a day before, and then they went away. Only to come back that night even stronger. 9 hours all up - labour and birth. Was a very empowering experience...knowing to trust your body and that it knows what it's doing.
I am proud to say that I had NO assistance whatsoever during labour and birth.
The only pain relief I had to have was after the fact when I was transferred up to the hospital for stitches for an insane tear. (they thought I had torn right thru to the 'rear passage' - so a bit of a big deal to get fixed up) Six injections in the fufu and two 'I'm sorry, I forgot to numb that part while stitch needle is jabbed into your lady garden....I had to get on the gas. I love how it makes you sound like you're in slow motion!

Grayson is an absolute guts! Loves his food way too much. And my boobs have taken an absolute hiding in the last two and a bit weeks. Thank God for nipple shields.

Hubby and I are very proud parents. And Grayson is awesome.

Scarycat , your story was like readying my own birth story with DD.
After a healthy normal pregnancy and birth ,She had a complete avsd so had 4 wholes between chambers and because of the type of defect they tested for downs. I remember the 2nd they got the blood test back for downs, I was eating hospital roast . The doctor told me to carry on eating but I have something to tell you....She got ill about 9 weeks of age and we went to starship to have it fixed .
To put a long story short , that sick little baby is now a very energetic intelligent 7 year old . She can read , spell , count , swim ,everything her friends do .
Your little boy will be harder than you were expecting , but he will love you more than you were expecting and even tho his milestones might take a little longer to get to , they will mean soo much more. When my DD finally took her first steps I balled my eyes out and we had a family party.
People are going to say the wrong things sometimes , and you will wonder why sometimes . But why not? He will teach you a lot about life and how to love in a completly new way.
Congradulations ! your life will never be the same , and you will never wish it was.

Congrats to all the Mums in our thread - I've not had a chance to get on here since our wee button arrived on 27th Jan. I've had a interesting 11 days - motherhood is much harder than I ever imagined! I think its slowly starting to make sense though! Honor is so good, she only cries when hungry...which I can fix pretty quickly, sleep is a bit iffy, she likes to be with me in the night and doesn't like her bed so much. But today we she has had two long sleeps in her own bed....I'm getting the knack of her I think.

Congratulations to all the new mums and dads and brothers and sisters! Cannot believe all the babies are here! Samantha what a lot to deal with but you sound, like others have said, like you have an amazing attitude. Khouri is a lovely name btw!.

Agree with Nicole that an Auckland get together needs to be arranged!

Baby Lily is doing well but makes a lot of noise in her sleep which keeps me awake- she sounds like she is straining. I managed to get a breast infection in week two so spent 2 nights in hospital being pumped full of antibiotics which was awesome fun but really nothing compared to what some of you mums have been through. Lily has been great - such a calm and sweet baby, except for the wierd noises!!! Im a lucky first time mum.

We had a nightmare with breastfeeding in the beginning and I only feel that we are getting there now (at 3 weeks) although I still do not feel like I am particularly good at it! Work in progress I guess.

Anyhoo thats a lot of chat isn't it so I will stop gasbagging now!

You seem to be coping well with all the news you have received in a very short period of time, what great parents Khouri has. I really admire you, I don't know how I would cope with all that news but I suppose as parents you just do cope
What a shame all your family are abroad. My brother and sister are in the UK and my parents are in Brunei...I really miss them now that I have wee Lexie but my parents are here in 7 weeks for a week and my sister will be here in June for a few weeks.

I can't believe we have all the bebe's now! It has been a long time coming, congratulations to all the mums, dads, big brothers & sisters!
Not sure how things will be for us in a few years but I can't wait to have another! hehehehehe

Thanks thyme, hopefully the ASD will close over time if not keyhole surgery at about age 4 much less stressful than the first option!! I've got 4 children now and unfortunately all our family are in the uk. The support here is good tho and I've made some lovely friends in the year we have been here who have been amazing over the last month.

I have always said that kids choose their parents so we feel quite privileged the he trusted us enough to come to our family, I hope we are as good as he hopes !!!

I wanted to wait til everyone had birthed before sharing our incredible journey. Khouri was an easy labour and is an even easier baby, he started having problems with his breathing a few hours after birth which got worse and we ended up at the highest level of NICU within 24 hrs as the suspected a major heart defect. A few hours of worry ended with a diagnosis of a mild ASD which is a hole between the heart chambers. Unfortunately he still needed considerable help with oxygen due to the ASD. Then a few days after his birth we got confirmation that he has down syndrome. We had no idea and had been given a low risk score after scans (no u know why I waited to tell u all :0). So we had a day of tears sadness and shock during which time my only thought was I needed to cuddle him as much as possible as I was so worried I wouldn't love him enough. But it's funny but that heart scare (they said he wd have to have open heart surgery within days) I was just so glad he was alive and ok that the downs diagnosis just didn't matter any more. He was my beautiful baby boy and I loved him just as much as my other bubs.

We are so much more positive now, after being so worried for his (and truthfully our) future, anything seems possible.

Thanks for being there to listen I'm so glad everyone has their babies now, we are all blessed and whatever trouble they bring us at least we have the joys to make us forget the tough times

Oh wow, look at that we are all done!

Our baby girl Siara arrived safe and well at 12.44am this morning. Her labour and birth were by far the best and easiest of them all. About 4 hours of active labour, I stayed on my feet til right at the end, didn't need drugs and simply listened to my body, it was amazing

Hope everyone and their babies are doing well

Jen - if it makes you feel better, it sounds like our first child was WORSE than yours... :) It seemed like he cried all the time and constantly needed to be held (especially for sleeps). It was so hard on us especially at night, DH would hold him for the first half then I'd take over at about 3am. At 7am I'd stagger out to the living room and give him to one of my parents while I went back to bed and passed out for a couple of hours until he started screaming again. Things got better though, and you'll eventually figure out a few little tricks here and there that will work for your child. I remember we'd have to bounce/dance around the house while holding him and singing silly made up nonsense songs to get him to sleep during the day. We also had to swaddle him nice and tight and let him have a dummy because he just really really wanted to suck all the time. It was a pain weening off the swaddle and dummy later on but we wouldn't have survived those early months without them. Just hang in there and keep trying different things, it's definitely worth it in the end!

Hello!

Huge congrats to all the new mummies! Some awesome names popping up and my goodness, there are a lot of 9lbers!! And even an 11! Phew.

Good luck to those still waiting!!

We're going well here. Layla has settled into life with us wonderfully. And i'm so thankful, because I have miss 8 home with a broken leg! She fell out of the tree playing with her sister on Saturday so she's pretty gutted. Once she gets used to her cast and gets to school and has her friends sign it i'm sure she'll be fine. Just means her pool party birthday will need to change theme!

So little layla is now 11lb2oz at 5weeks and 59cm long. She's the best sleeper we've had so far and sleeps good solid 5hr blocks overnight and 3-4hrs in the day sometimes less if we're out and about. She loves to be wrapped, dummied and in bed with her white noise it's so strange, my other 3 were very different. All loved to be held, rocked, fed to sleep and I co-slept with them all until 2yrs but not miss Layla!

Hope everyones doing well with their wee ones!!

She is GORGEOUS of course!
I was induced with cervadil,it stayed in for 24 hours during which time I had tightenings and small contractions,then they took it out and my body took over and labour really kicked in which was great cos otherwise I was going to have a stronger induction the next day.I was in the pool until the last minute and lila's heartbeat became irregular so had to get out,then two more contractions and she was born! Gotta say I quite liked the gas and was pleased we were in hospital.

Hi all

sorry not posted much, will give full update at some point soon.

Just wanted to quickly say swaddling does help and personally I have always used a dummy for mine and never had any problems with breastfeeding I know they say not to use one but it's always been ok for me. Plus (and this is a very emotive issue) I have always preferred a dummy to them sucking a thumb as you can always wean off a dummy but a thumb is so much harder.

Also if it is wind (why baby is unsettled) then a great hint given to me by a south african grandmother is for mum to drink redbush tea (if breastfeeding) if bottle then you can give a little bit very diluted to baby. All the african mums swear by it, the first time i gave it to DS he passed so much wind (both ends)!!! Also holding bubs across your arm (tummy on your arm head elbow end bum hand end) really helps too

Hope you are all going well with bubs and births, I keep checking up on here but we just have some issues right now so will post when I can. xx

Hi all!

Things are going a little better for Lily and I now! We're out of the hospital (after an extremely stressful whole week of hospital staff pressuring a traumatised Lily and I to breastfeed when it was obviously not working Due to the dramatic way Lily entered the world, things in that area didn't work so well for either of us but that wasn't something the staff could accept. Eventually my midwife put her foot down and told them to back off, which was great!) and getting settled at home! Still having a few issues though - Because Lily was up in intensive care for for a few days and because of the pressure put on me re: feeding (every time I held her, staff would make me try and breastfeed which would result in her screaming and me stressed. It got to the point where I would avoid holding her so the staff couldn't make me try and feed.) and the trauma surrounding her birth, I had a little trouble bonding with her but we're working on it :) Things aren't perfect yet but we're getting there!

Jen - Thank you :) We're pretty glad she's okay too! I found out yesterday that she actually didn't have a discernible heartbeat when she was born, which I didn't realise. I knew she wasn't breathing but the no heartbeat thing really hit home - We're so glad she made it! Also; I know how you feel. Not quite as bad as what you've described but we're having a bit of trouble settling Lily as well. She'll be clean and fed and have had heaps of attention but she'll just cry and cry :S We've found that swaddling her in a wrap helps a lot and when really desperate, we resort to the pacifier / dummy (although if you're breastfeeding, I think you're meant to wait for a month or so before you introduce the pacifier... We're bottle feeding so it's not such an issue in that regard), which has been a life saver the few times we've used it. We spoke to our midwife when she came over yesterday and she said that some babies just have an "unsettled period" where they won't sleep and that it's perfectly normal and should sort itself in the first month or two (Lily's "unsettled period" is unfortunately between about 1am and 6am!).

Hi everyone. Congrats all u yummy mummies out there!

Crikey I have to say that I didn't quite expect parenting to be this hard! We've been having a hard time settling Tyler off to sleep. He cries for hours and nothing we try works. But other days he'll be an angel and calm as anything. He'll sleep for 5 hours at a time sometimes which is pure bliss. But most of time he's pretty unsettled. Is anyone else having this trouble? I didn't expect this really. I'm sure the rewards will come when he's older... please?

Hope everyone is coping ok with their babies and if yours is still to come then all the best for a smooth and easy labour.

P.s Imford when I read your story it made me cry! So pleased your baby girl is ok. Xx

Ooh not too many more babies to go! It's so quiet on here, I hope all the mums (and soon to be mums) and babies are doing well.

After almost 2 weeks overdue DD is finally here! Had to get induced unfortunately, but things moved along really quickly after the second lot of gel. Such a different birthing experience to DS though, but all went well and we're both doing great. I'm surprised at how different she is to DS, it's almost like night and day! We're still getting settled but I must say it's a lot easier the second time around now that I don't feel completely clueless all the time. :) DH is having fun being the housewife this week, I think he's actually starting to realise why I can't seem keep the house 100% clean all the time and how much work goes into planning/making 3+ meals a day for everyone!

Well no news from me so if I dont go into labour tonight (not holding my breath!) then I will be induced tomorrow. Extremely excited....nervous......scared etc. Cant believe I could possibly be a Mum tomorrow! Or the next day, depending on how things go of course. So I'll post the news when I can.

So how is everyone doing? Thyme? BabyG? Any news/niggles?

Absolutely nothing going on with me, every morning I get up with 'tightenings' that are a little bit sore, but then they disappear once I pee. But I can't complain, the only pain I have is in my foot, lol Otherwise I'm just trying to keep myself busy and not think about being due tomorrow. At least I know it won't be too much longer - only a few weeks at most huh?

Wow, so many babies have arrived since I last checked on here!!

I'm happy to add to the "Arrived" list. My wee boy arrived on Tues 17th Jan at 8.14 am by emergency C-section. I got stuck at 9 cm and he was facing up so they decided C-section would be best. Unfortunatley there was complications with the surgery so I had to spend longer in hospital than normal

But we are both home and safe and healthy now

We have called him Ethan and he was a tiny 2.82kg or 6lb2!!

Hey sorry girls, haven't been on here for abit. Most of you from FB know that our wee girl Skyla Johanna Christina Myles turned up about 10 days early on 19th January, weighing 7.3 pounds! She is just so gorgeous, we are smitten with her! Still can't believe it all! It all happened pretty quickly really, just been staying at Helensville Birthing Centre for 3 nights and highly recommend it, awesome staff and learnt so much!!

BabyG, can't wait to hear your news soon!!

Hope all you new mummies are doing well, its so exciting all these gorgeous babies arriving!!

Wow, lmford, that was an incredibly traumatic delivery! So glad "little" Lily is doing okay now, hope she's out of NICU now. And hope your recovery is quicker than expected, ouchies ouchies ouchies for all those stitches!!

I'm still here girls - waiting waiting. Having S&S tomorrow and then induction on Friday if all else fails. This child is showing no signs of wanting to leave my body! Spent two hours cleaning the house this morning hoping to encourage her out....all it did was make my back ache. But my kitchen looks lovely

Oh wow Thyme! I hope that everything goes well and the way you want (whether a HB or induction).

Here is a list from OHbaby! which I think was complied from suggestions from OB members. Which reminds me I really should look at this myself and pack my bags. I'm a procrastinator from way back though

Congrats xtina!!
I've just been to hospital and the obstitrician wasn't happy with amount of amniotic fluid around the baby so I'm waiting on another scan.If its as low as it looks I might be getting induced! So I'm actually checking my hospital bag properly now..Considering I was planning a home birth I didn't really pack it with that much thought. Any suggestions of what is good to take?
