Author: duenbe
Subject: 39316
Posted: 21 June 2011 at 9:52am

Good morning everyone.
It is great to see so many people interested in SoapNuts.

My name is Dunja and I'm the owner of The SoapNut Shop and thought to answer a few questions which I have found in this forum.

They do work in cold and warm/hot water. If used in warm/hot water then they releas more saponin (which is the staff who washes our clothes). That is why when doing a cold wash you might like to add a few more. Some of our customers have used the soapnuts 8 times by doing cold washes and were very happy with the results.

Another great thing is that you don't need the rinse cycle anymore - means you can save water and energy. There are no nasties to wash out when washing with SoapNuts.

In regards of stubborn stain, if you use SoapNuts we recommend to do a warm/hot wash or the other option is to use Oxygen Bleach and soak the clothes overnight and the next morning wash with SoapNuts.

Do you don't have to activate the SoapNuts - we never do. Just place about 6 nuts into a little cotton bag, add a few drops of any essential oils and wash as normal.

SoapNuts are available in Health and Organic Shops, Bin Inns and online. Check our website to find your nearest retailer. If you can't find our products at your preferred shop, please ask the Manager for SoapNuts or send us an email with the details and will get in touch witht he shop owner.

We are more than happy to answer more questions.
Dunja
Just adjust the amount of Soap Nuts. For a warm wash use about 5 Soap Nuts. Add a few extra for a cold wash, or if your water is very hard. Use a few less for a hot wash."

So from that info, they do work in cold water, but you need to use a few more. It sounds like they get more effective with hot water. Sorry for the mistake!

The hot water is what activates them and we only ever do cold washes (seriously, one hot wash uses our entire supply of hot water). I have bought them from The Soapnut Shop

Or google Soapnuts NZ and compare prices.

They do work on clothes. I wouldn't load up your machine to much but they do work. From readin old threads they seem to work on nappies, clothes but I would be best to use ordinary washing powder on DH's dirty (builders) work clothes, is that right? I have a front loader and generally wash on 40C if that makes a difference.

Also can anyone recommend where to buy the soapnuts from?
