I started with biggest mega blocks set like this, blocks, at around 1 year. Her birthday is in November and I can't remember if she got them for her birthday or Christmas. She's now 19 months and still uses them and is just starting to try with the duplo that's at her grandparents. I'm thinking that we'll get her some duplo for her 2nd birthday/Christmas.

We have the first lot of mega blocks as they were easier for DD to manipulate. Duplo is more expensive but a bit more of a challenge (ages 2-5) and has more of an interesting range. I got DS a dumptruck that had a few megablocks that came with it and he seems to really like them. Would like to get some more but before investing $ in mega blocks and I wondering if it would be better to go with duplo.
