(well maybe a piece of fruit if you are worried.) at that age she should be getting into the hang of family meals and if she knows you'll just give her a can if she doesnt eat it shen she wont eat.

have you tried pasta - the boys love it just on its own or with a bit of cheese on top, noodles are another fave here - messy but it gets mostly eaten...sausages as finger food - cut lengthways, meatballs... my boys generally dont eat much meat either and mashed veges are a no go with them too - its funny tho cause when they are babies thats all they eat.

Edited by gsmum

She does like the veges in them though so probably wouldn't notice that they are different, might be worth a shot.

Or how about something like cauli or broccoli with a cheese sauce - that way it will kind of resemble some of the things that come out of the Watties cans. Even maybe macaroni cheese but sneak some mixed veg into the mix.

I mix mixed veges into baked beans too for a lazy dinner for Maya sometimes.

    Author: fattartsrock
Subject: 4013
Posted: 10 October 2006 at 2:44pm

I had this problem with Jacob, so what I did was I sneakily blended "our food" in with the tin stuff, started off with mash spud or rice or a bit of pasta, and gradually increased the quantity untill it was all "our food". Took a while, but worked fine. I still give him a tin occasionally, if I have been lazy, but when I do ur meals, I do enough for 2 meals for him. I do have a problem getting him to eat "our meat" so I have a supply of frozen casseroles, mince etc, that I freeze when we have had it to add to our veges for him, and I also use inghams chicken patties and lately he has been aeting sealord hoki fillets (one does 2 meals) that I just microwave for 4 minutes. Angel Bay burger paties are another good one, but I find they make for REALLY awfully smelly #2s and blow offs, so i only use in emergencies!
Jakes faves ae now silver beet, broccoli, and cauli.
Hope this helps!

Like making a face out of her meal or something?

Or serving some of the watties tinned food with home made extras on the side?

Ah I don't know... toddlers drive me insane!
Han won't eat potatoes either! Argh!

Have you tried the tomato sauce trick? Kidlets seem to be open to a whole lot more food if it has some sauce to dip it in to.

Good luck!!!

Does she eat potatoes if they are mashed up? I'm inclined to go the "hard" way but maybe there is a way to mash up some sweet veges (kumara, pumpkin) into her Watties fruit she might take that?

My younger sister didn't eat meat for a couple of years because she found the chewing not worth the effort. She still (at 22yrs) is fussy about certain chewy meats lol

Abby is now 21 months old and the only food she will eat for tea is the watties 1-3 tins, and even then it's only certain ones. we have tried her several times with our meals and she just chucks them on the floor. She eats regular food during the day, she loves yoghurt, rice wafers and crackers and will eat fruit but hates potatoes and meat. I never had this problem with my other two.

Has anyone else had something similar? Should I just be hard and not give her anything else?

Edited by vick
