Unless they mean the side of the bassinet to put the wires out? We just ran ours over the top in the cariboo bassinet we used, as baby was too small to get caught or pull on them. In the cot we just let them out between the bed rails under the mattress, and in the portacot I poked a small hole in the netting so DD wouldn't realise there were wires there and play with them.

I actually just bought a spare one esp for travelling as we are away a lot, and have a respisense clip on one for #2 when it arrives as we don't really need the sound monitor cos only live in a small house - and accidently found out a while back I can hear the AC all the way down the driveway cos I forgot to turn it off when I got DD up!

We only have the old model 201 with 2 pads, which is fine for what we need. Only prob is if you were using it for sound too, they can be really staticy, i imagine the 401 is an improvement on that

I know it sounds over the top and expensive, and heaps of babies do fine without them. While pregnant I refused to buy one, because it is just being paranoid if you have a healthy baby.

But the day my little boy was born on our way home in the afternoon with him we stopped off at baby shop to buy one. I can't explain it, but I felt that I needed that peace of mind that he is okay. In my view we buy carseats to protect our precious little bundles incase of that small remote chance they are in an accident, why not this? They will spend much more time in their cot. My little boy is 8 months now and I still love the peace of mind.

Sometimes if I can't decide on something, I take the choice of least regret. What choice could I potentially regret more in years to come.

PS: I do think Mothers are made to be worriers :-)

Most annoying feature ever. The room gets under 16 degrees (the lowest you can set it at) and its beep, beep, beep, beep. Other then that most annoying feature the moniter itself is pretty good, plays lullabys and has a night light and a push to talk button (fun for toddlers maybe? 'get back in bed!') and you can record your own voice singing or white noise and you can operate all that from outside babies room. But that temp beep thing makes me want to smash it.

We have them for our twins and with prem babies they were a godsend cos my wee girl used to set it off regularly when she first came home.
For me it was about being able to relax, safe in the knowledge the monitor would alert me so I didn't need to be checking on them every 5 mins.

They have pretty good resale value too.

I wouldn't be without it. Working in health I have seen babies stop breathing. I think it is an extra safety measure. I would have hated for anything to happen, when I knew I could have been using the monitor..
Thankfully the only times it ever went off were when DS had rolled up the top end of the cot.

Was going to go the normal sound monitor route but then found out about the sound and movement monitors such as Angelcare and wondering if anyone has any advice on whether these are worthwhile and if so, which model to buy? Help is much appreciated, thanks!
