Get some Cannesten or detol liquid rinse from your supermarket. Put 1/2 lid worth into the fabric softner dispenser. These are antifungal and antibacterial. Okay so my little guy has this and I know that you can recatch the bug if you don't really clean things down/sterilise them. I am still using my cloth and am wondering if I need to do something special when I am washing them.
