Author: squoggs
Subject: 40939
Posted: 08 November 2011 at 10:47am

We have a SnS meridian and a Brio. I would have got a radian if it had fitted behind the drivers seat instead of the Brio though - although the Brio is fantastic, just doesn't cope as well with tall kids!

We are replacing the meridian (behind passenger seat) when #2 is a bit bigger with a radian for a few reasons. The meridian is super wide, and we can only fit two carseats, no passengers in the back. It also only RFs to 13kgs (and we live at the end of a high-crash road so want to RF longer) and its big & bulky. The problems we came across with the radian were that it is so long when RFing and reclined, it just meant that DH couldn't fit in the drivers seat - and the meridian is even worse! The radian also looks a lot better to travel with as it folds up neatly, i always worry about the meridian when we take it on a plane (every few weeks) that it won't take the bumps & knocks as well. However, the meridian is a fantastic, comfortable & safe carseat, so whatever suits your car/situation etc.

A bit off-topic, but if we have 3 kids, we plan to use 2xRadians and 1xBrio behind drivers seat (we have legacy s/w) so it does pay to think ahead :-)
DD grew out of the SnS at about 19 months in height and weight so we got the Radian for her to continue rear facing. DS is now in the SnS but we will probably get the new Radian once he out grows it.

And has all the great features of the Radian but it can also be used as a booster seat whereas the Radian can't.

Tweedle.co.nz have it for 10% off at the moment too making it $459 which is a great deal!!

I'll get a Diono for future children. It has a Steel alloy frame, can be used rear facing up until 20kg and Suits taller children better than most of the carseats on the NZ market. It can then be used in a 5point harness until 36kg, the new Diono carseat can actually be used as a booster seat, so you would only need one seat for your child.
