He settled alot better (though still not brilliantly) when I was confident for him. We've ended up pulling him out for a few reasons but a big one was that even at 4 he really had trouble settling but there are a few factors involved. Hope she settles for you soon!!

Just like Noah, sometimes he'll start crying the moment I put him down, even if I'm just stashing his nappies in his cubbyhole etc. It gets easier, it's honestly just that they love Mummy and don't want to leave you - but once you're gone they'll have a ball.

Jacob's been really good for the last couple of weeks, so it's possible he's grown out of it? But whether they do or not, it's pretty normal, if that helps at all.

DD's carer would pick her up, tell her to say bye to mum and they'd wave. Then as soon as I was out the door she'd quickly interest DD in something else. 90% of the time it was DD's carer but once she settled in it was sometimes another carer if hers was busy. Is someone doing that for your boy?

hang in there tho, it gets easier

DD took longer to come out of it but she did - probably took 2-3 weeks.

DS started daycare 2 weeks ago, into his 3rd week now. First couple of days there I barely got a wave good bye but then he got separation anxiety, however same as you I knew he was settling quickly after I left and having a great time. It still breaks your heart though.

He is already over it now, he will hold my hand and I spend about 5-10 mins mucking around with him, then we will go to his teacher and he will ask for a hug and kiss and say bye mum. Soooo happy now that there are no tears! This morning he even asked when we were going to school! Guess that it is just a big change having heaps of other kids around and they need time to adjust and feel really comfortable. Even us grown ups feel anxious when we are out of our comfort zones.

We have Pip in daycare one day a week, and she loves it. I noticed if I drop her off quickly, then go without lingering, she is fine. If I stay and give her kisses & cuddles, then she starts to cry. DH has noticed the same, we feel bad dropping & running, but it works for us & she is much happier too
