Hi,

We use OSFA nappies- a brand called Happy Heinies. They are a pocket nappy which is great for drying, and the fact that you can put different amounts of absorbent layers in as your baby grows. They have domes on the front which mean the leg size is adjusted and velcro round the middle. We used them for our first son from about 2-3 months (before that we used disposables as wewere adjusting to being parents and had enough to learn!)until he was around 2 when they got passed on to his little brother. We have found them to be great and that he seemed to get less nappy rash with cloth than with disposables. We got the nappies from snazzipants online store.

no, you need a waterproof cover. Fabrics have come a long way since you were in nappies You aren't going to want to wash bedding everytime baby goes to sleep. The PUL fabric in most mcn is waterproof and breathable.

If you don't want to use pul, then think about using wool. A lot of people knit shorties to wear over nappies, it wouldn't be rigid enough to keep a prefold in place though.


I wouldn't choose a osfa cover - you really want it to fit snug over the inserts and round the waist and legs to stop leaks and to stop the insert moving around. A osfa cover is not going to work with a newborn.

Thanks ladies - I am hoping I can get some 2nd hand on Trademe. I guess I will need about 5 wraps?

Am a little confused though as mum has said she never used a wrap as she hated the vinyl and thought it wouldn't breath. Do you think I could go without a wrap and just put some washable liners and booster in? I really like the covers from YoYo nappies in Nelson. Thirsties do a wrap/cover in Size 1 and Size 2 which covers from newborn to TT. I quite like them - come in snaps or velcro and they have leg gussets to stop any leaks. HI there,
I am hoping to use flat or prefold nappies for most of the time when baby arrives - I am having trouble finding a wrap/cover that is OSFA though. Has anyone gone down trhis route and what would you reccommend.
I was planning on putting an extra liner and booster in teh flat nappy for nights.
I was thinking of getting 5 or so All in one nappies OSFA for going out and about.
