I would also suggest going for at least 2 times a week. At one stage Ella went from going to daycare 2 days a week down to 1 days and it was so discruptive to her (and she used to love going). In the end I had to increase her hours and she was fine again.

im not sure i can help my DD started kindy in term 3 of this year and had never been to daycare so had never been with anyone but me really, however she settled in well and at almost the end of her second term still have never had any tears. What i think helped was that for a couple of terms before she began i went with her once a fortnight or once a week for a couple of hours for her to play and get used to the place and the teachers with me there. My little girl just turned 3 and I've took her to a creche once a week for the first time 4 weeks ago. I'm a SAHM and was always there for her, so she is quite attached to me. The first time at creche went ok. The teachers said there were a few tears but but when I picked her up she was quite happy and wanted to go back there. Second time was ok, third time (last week) wasn't so good - it was really hard to leave, she was very clingy and today when I asked her if she wanted to go to playgroup, she said: No, I don't like it there. I tried to find out why but she just won't tell. I'm not sure, how to handle this, I don't want to force her, but I'd like her to get used to being away from me for a while and socialize with other kids.
