We got my son some as he doesn't like sitting in the buggy for too long and prefers walking...at 17 months he's just a bit too young to fully 'listen' and is extremely adventurous. I love them! Got him a super cute puppy backpack from Farmers when there was a sale. My folks used them on me! And DH says he understands why as I tend to wander off in the mall lol he said I have the attention span of a toddler. One of my earliest memories is getting lost in the supermarket when I was little, so I get why my folks had to use them.

I have them for DS, my mum had them for me and her mum probably had them for her! Ignore the judgy people out there. I'm not damaged for being kept on reins, in fact I know for a fact that I'm not damaged BECAUSE I was kept on them! I have no doubt that they save lives.

Is the only reason you're not using them because you're worried about getting dirty looks from strangers? If you want them, buy them. This is a tricky one, I always swore Id never used them and really didn't like them, but I have an extremely active extremely quick toddler who can nearly run and hates his pram so I know it's only a matter of time before he'll want to walk when we go out. I too would rather use them than have something bad happen! So like most parenting ideas I had before having a baby, I might have to change my mind! Luckily my runner settled down once #2 arrived. But i nearly got some.

I got one yesterday for my son who tried to run off in the boxing day sales
I got the harness type but will buy the backpack ones today online. I have some and they are great. I have the little pack ones. I've gotten dirty looks, but I'd rather that than an independently running under 2 who doesn't want to hold my hand and will run off 'to be funny'. I know they're controversial but I think my son may need them soon for his own safety! He has no fear of anything and is very independent (ie. will run off without hesitation) Has anyone used them?
