I stayed 3 nights in hospital as I lost so much blood. Hb was 125 when I went to ED and by the next morning was 76. They gave me an iron infusion that day- ferritin was 19,...but by the next day I was even more symptomatic of the lkow hb so had 2 units of blood, then came home on Wed. My hb was 110 when I can home- so still a bit low, and ferritin something like 130 I think.
Having accupuncture to help build my blood up, but still getting tired from doing less than normal. 5 more days til Im due back at work.

Its supposed to be between 15-?150 (depending on unit of measurement used) and I have had to push everytime for this to be checked, even though it has been mega low in the past (last miscarriage was measured pre misoprostol at something over 25 (I can't remember how much) - after one session of misoprostol it dropped to 9 and then after 2 months of retained products (and iron pills!) it was 5. Low iron stores affects the effectiveness of oxygen getting round your body and can leave you feeling tired, weak, dizzy etc.
You can get this read privately (I did) its about $20. There's also your haemoglobin which iirc should be over 100, maybe 120 (sorry, I haven't looked up this stuff for a while).

Feel free to ignore if you have already looked into this

Edited by spanky77

After my MC I felt exhausted for a while afterwards, I thought because I was still bleeding a bit and maybe because there was still some hormones hanging around. I was tired and still kept spotting for a full 4 weeks until what seemed like AF arrived again but a couple of days into it I passed a bit more tissue that was still hanging around (even though I'd had a scan after the MC and the sonographer said it looked like everything had passed). I think this was causing the spotting and confusing my body still making me feel pregnant and so tired because after that everything went back to normal.

Hope you get your energy back soon and take care not to overdo it. Just rest when you can if you feel you need it.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I am 4 weeks post D&C and it has only been in the last week that I have been starting to feel normal again. Talking to the nurse at North Shore Hospital she said it is very common to be exhausted after a miscariage. The best advice I was given (and have to keep reminding myself) is not expect to much and just be gentle on myself. Hang in there.

I thought I was getting stronger each day (physically) but today after a short outing I was completely exhausted and had to sleep again.
Ive got 1 more week off work,..yesterday I was thinking that I would really be sweet to go back this week, but after today Im worrying that maybe I wont be ready even after another week off.
Emotionally Im doing better than I would have thought, but tomorrow DH goes back to work, so Im gonna be back doing school drop-off/pick-ups and taking DS to playgroup / music etc, so Im gonna have to face a lot of people that knew I was preg and will have been wondering where I was last week.
