Her daughter got the option of freedom at first but with any running got strapped to the pram (or mums wrist) for the rest of the walk. She was super consistent and used a lot of education about why it is so dangerous and her girl is pretty good now. ]]>

Whenever we go to a shop/supermarket etc....I ask him if he is going to go in the buggy or walk and hold Mummy's hand. surprise, surprise he always chooses the hand option. He then has to hold onto my hand, unless I tell him its OK. If he struggles/makes a fuss etc I give him 1 warning and then if he continues I carry him. Normally after a couple of mins he is asking to walk and hold my hand. He now knows that he HAS to hand my hand near a road/carpark/driveway and very rarely stuggles (and he is VERY active little boy who loves to run). ]]>

I had a runner. I used to have to hold his hand all the time. Once i attached him to the pushchair with his belt (he had been very bad and i was paying a bill at the counter) and he tried to run away but the pushchair went over with his little brother in it! Eeeek! He liked the wrist strap i got him too.]]>
