I think I night light would greatly help him feel more secure at night time :)

Like the Gro Clock but much cheaper
Make a huge deal out of his new light.
If you think he may be scared perhaps the light could stay on and he can get up when it goes off.

Another idea is to get him a toy, tell him a story about how the toy keeps getting up at night for a drink/cuddle etc and ask if he could look after the toy and make sure the toy stays in bed with him all night.

    Author: HuMum
Subject: 42280
Posted: 06 July 2012 at 4:44pm

We got DS a music player he can turn on when he woke up. He wakes up turns it on and then goes back to sleep. We filled it up with music and stories.

His sleep issue arose from several windy nights scaring him so the music drowned out the noise.

But given your son has a new sibling, thats likely the cause. If so its probably just a phase that he will work through. If hes been good till now, he might just need a few weeks of extra care in the middle of he night (not what you want with a new sibling though I'm sure)

If that doesn't work, perhaps a reward chart for staying asleep?

Good luck
