We are up to day 4 in our big boy bed, DS got it as a 2nd birthday present. In my case I am 6 months pregnant, and need the cot for #2 so although he wasn't showing too many signs of being ready, he's been evicted all the same.

Whereas I used to find DS in all sorts of odd positions in the cot, upside down on top of his blankets, feet through the bars, head smushed up into the bottom corner of the cot?! - he hardly wiggles at all in his big boy bed! He has a pillow, just a thin one (from kmart) and his bed is up against the wall. On the outer edge we have a foam triangle barrier which slips under the mattress protector and means he can't just topple out in the middle of the night (which is what happened when we tried it a few months ago without the foam thingy). We have the blanket tucked in on the wall side, and I think that helps with not wiggling. I keep going in to tuck him in but he just stays where I put him!

Only unsuccessful thing so far is day sleeps....as in he won't have one. But he was showing signs of dropping them anyway, and tolerates not having a day sleep quite well. He LOVES his big boy bed. DS has been in a big bed since 19 months and a toddler pillow does nothing,..hes still a wriggler and we have to cover him up again several times a night still as he calls out in his sleep when he gets cold.

Sleepstore sell a few different types of toddler pillows.

We have the Innature ones which are really nice but a pain to get dry if you have to wash them.
I've heard the tencel ones are great cos you can put them in the washer & dryer.

I wouldn't rush to move her out of her cot if she's happy. Thanks ladies.

Where can you actually buy a toddler pillow? I'm having trouble finding one

ETA: good idea having both beds in room, her room is quite small, but we could move out her toy box etc and make room for her bed.

Is it also a good idea to start out with the base just on the floor? Without the feet?

She was at her (home base) carers place today, there was a 14 m/o using the cot, so she put her in the bed, every time she went in to check on her she was out of bed playing!

Definitely a toddler pillow may help, she may be moving around trying to get comfy, cause my boy did that and stopped once he got a pillow. He's 21 months and I have no intention of taking him out of his cot for night time. I didn't put my boy into a bed till well after that age - and then only because #2 had arrived.

Maybe you could ask her if she wants to sleep in a bed, have it ready for her, and one day she might decide to shift herself (apparently that is what I did!)

other thing is, she wriggles around alot in her cot, she seems to change ends that she sleeps in, we quite often find her sleeping diagonally too.

I keep thinking we need to move our girl to a bed.
Thing is she is very happy in her cot, has never tried to climb and has had her Gro Clock in her room for a while, she's got the idea when the sun comes up we come and get her.

She goes down to bed around 7pm, wakes around 5am, then goes back to sleep till around 7am-7.30am

Am I overanalysing by thinking if we keep her in her cot too long that we're causing ourselves more grief?
