My SIL had 2 rough VB's (#1 posterior & 3 degree tears, #2 shoulder dystocia, big baby)
She was advised that due to the issues she had had, a c-section was an option for her with #3. The possibility of further, more damaging tearing was the biggest concern!
She opted for a section with #3 (he was also a big baby with a big head!!) and once the decision was made she felt instantly better and began to really enjoy the pregnancy. 1st 2 were overdue so having a date was also nice!
Sections aren't all bad...I've had 3 myself, 1 emergency and 2 electives. Recovery was fine for me, no need for pain relief within 2-3 days (except panadol for the "edge", just that mild discomfort)

I had VB for 1st and although I didnt have a prolapse I had other issues and was told by MW & OB to have ELCS for next babies. I have since had 2 babies by CS, one I went into labour at 36wks so went to theatre and about an hour later had baby. with last baby I got to 39wk5days and they did an ELCS. I had far better recovers from my CS than from my VB.

In the topic support/chat there is more positive experiences from other mums. I havent loooked back. CS was definately the best way to birth for me after a traumatic VB.

with the ELCS Once spinal was in at 8.50pm baby was born at 8.55pm and on my chest at 8.56pm for skin to skin & BF. Twas lovely.

For me my middle birth was the best as the MW was the best, I had a different MW for lastest CS and she really didnt have a good "theatre manner" hadnt had her own children and definately showed.

The births of my two daughters (2.5 and 7m) wasnt the best experience. Wont go into details except to say they were long winded, lots of intervention due to my body not doing its thing, and both girls ended up in NICU.

Since DD2s birth, a gynocologist has suggested that although I could go for vaginal birth in future (with lots of close monitoring), the damage she (DD2) caused (prolapse) means she advised a c-setion for future babies to avoid any more damage.

Im not UTD at the moment, not planning on it for a few months yet but would love to hear experiences from people who had been in my position. Did you find that an elective c-section make you view birth in a positive light again? Did you find it hard to find a supportive midwife? My mw for my girls would be supportive but Im not sure if Ill be able to have her again.
