That does make it a bit clearer. Those seats are two of the ones I have been looking at. We have a safe'n'sound and a two year old, with one on the way. We figured we'd move the two year old and put the newbie in the safe'n'sound. He is forward facing (just), so the room they take up isn't such a major. If they have a tether we would use it in our car, but just want the ability to stick in mum and dad's landcruiser or bus without breaking the law!

We don't have LATCH in our car anyway, but thanks for clarifying that point.

I am under the impression that if a car seat has a tether strap it must legally be used. What I want is a good quality car seat/booster that doesn't require a tether strap so we can use it in my parents cars too. All the ones I look at seem to say tether compatible. Does that mean I have to use it (if you don't use LATCH), or just that you can use it if you want. Recommendations also appreciated. Thanks!
