Got a call from my clinic saying would I like my publicly funded IVF round next month... only about five months earlier than I was told to expect so I'm slightly in shock but excited too. Although I'm booked to go to Samoa next week and given that's a zika risk destination I'm wondering if that will delay us... we wait to hear.

Gina, have you managed to see Genea yet? We went to them in the early days, after being mucked around through the hybrid public/private system that used to be OFS in Dunedin and they were great - really proactive and made us feel like we were making progress. If you've had irregular and anovulatory cycles they might try Letrazole or Clomiphene for a start which is not very expensive - a few hundred dollars a cycle to do the meds and have them monitor you for ovulation. We decided to privately fund everything except IVF when TTC#1 - we figured that a few hundred here and there was worth a punt to jump ahead of those waiting for public consultations. I also got a laparoscopy done to diagnose and remove endo through their sister clinic Oxford Women's Health which was covered under my health insurance - again something I was told I'd have to wait months for through the public system. Once we went to public wait list for IVF we got transferred to Fertility Associates (because they're now the public provider for Southern DHB), who have also been really good. It's so hard when you don't know where to turn and it feels like everyone is telling you to just wait... the group here is a great source of knowledge though I have found these ladies really helpful over the years so anything you want to know, just ask! 

How's your pregnancy going Roubaix? You're so right about the TTC journey fading into the background once you have your take home baby. Your wee girl is a similar age to mine... they bring so much cuteness and joy huh. Is she excited that she's going to get a sibling?
