It's tricky aye AJBird? All about timing, as with everything in this babymaking game! I guess there's a chance that I'm missing the surge by only doing it once every 24 hours...but then maybe I'm just doing it too soon in my cycle. For those that use OPK's, how many times a day to you test until you get a positive? I used to test once a day (before DS was born) and always got a positive the first time I tested, coz I was so up to speed with what was happening with my cycle. But now my cycle is all different and I haven't had a clear, definite positive OPK for the past couple of months that I've been using them again, wondering if it's worthwhile testing twice a day. If you test twice a day, what sort of time of the day are you testing? Any of you ladies have any particular ways you cheer yourself up when AF arrives? CD27 for me and I'm feeling particularly crampy and emotional - temp started to dip down this morning as well, so I expect the dreaded AF to arrive tomorrow :-( Feeling particularly fragile this month as I went out to dinner with some play group Mums last night and one of them announced she is due with #2 in December. I feel AWFUL having to fake happiness when I hear someone's good news, wishing it was me that had the good news - such a terrible feeling coz I am actually happy for them, but equally sad for me. It seems so crazy that you need to be trying without success for so long before you are eligible for any sort of specialist care. I guess otherwise demand would be higher than the system can cope with, but it does still seem like a bit of a cop-out to me. I remember my doctor telling me after my second miscarriage that I'd need to have one more before I would qualify for any sort of specialist checks and thinking it was crazy that I'd have to go through that heartbreak again before any investigating into why I couldn't hold onto a pregnancy would occur. Thankfully I was able to carry DS to term since then, but the thought of going through another MC terrifies me. They said August and should receive a letter June and I rung them last week but just got the lady on reception and she was pretty vague on it but said should get letter in next couple of weeks so I'm hoping its soon!

Okay update from me:
After a myriad of tests my doctor has found in have a mild case of PCOS. I have been put onto Metformin to help me ovulate as a start. Unfortunately 8 months of TTC isn't quite enough for specialist care sof I have to go back in 3 months of nothing has happened and keep tracking cycles. Hi ladies. Hope you don't mind if I join you in here. DH and I are TTC baby #2 at the moment - we just started trying last month. We had a bit of a bumpy road to conceive our DS (now 9.5 months old), with 2 MCs (one at 10 weeks, one at 6 weeks) and then 12 months of trying before we finally conceived. So I'm super-anxious about getting on the TTC rollercoaster again. I started charting after visiting a naturopath and acupuncturist when we were struggling to get pregnant first time around and I started again back in April, when we first started talking about TTC #2. My temps were all over the show for the first two months, but seem to be a lot better now, since I started taking all the same supplements I started taking from the naturopath a couple of years ago (pre-natal vitamin, DIM, vitex, B vitamins, fish oil, EPO). Congrats Mumma! If it's not squinty I'd say you ov'd cd 22. I've got clear but faint bfps 9dpo before, could have implanted 6dpo. Sounds like you're not ovulating currently then. If you're charting your temp you're probably seeing it jump around all over the place too.
One thing to get from the gp though - they'll give you a 'day 21' blood test which checks for ovulation. It's meant to be done 1 week after ov, hence normally on day 21 of a 28 day cycle. If your cycles aren't going that, you'll want to get several forms so you can check every week from day 21 onwards until you get AF, so you know if you're simply not oving in a cycle, or if you're ovulating, but just a bit late (might ov after day 21!)

Nope they are haywire. Sometimes 40 days between cycles, sometimes 26 days, sometimes 50. I was so regular before the pill 29 days every time! Hello. I'm not sure where to post on here but myself and my husband have been ttc for 7 months since I came off ava30 in November 2015. I have turned to charting and opks as a way of trying to make sensense of my seemingly out if control cycles, but it doesn't appear that I am ovulating at all. I am currently taking vitex to try and regulate everything but it's getting a but frustrating.
I was wondering if anyone else has a shared experience after coming off the pill?

Finally had my follow up appointment after my surgery which was back in November! (God I hate the public health system!) being sent for another internal scan to check out my blocked tubes to see if they can possibly be fixed as a back up plan for if IVF isn't successful, certainly hope I don't have to go down that track but are also thankful they are looking at all options and not just writing me off!

I don't think this is going to go to plan line was still super faint yesterday when I tested. Will wait till I get home next Wednesday to see what outcome is. Oxy I'd say cd14 too. I tended to ov a couple of days after my positive opk so that could be the reason your cervix was still high day 16: lh surge day 14 and ov day 16...

When did I ovulate?

Okay I got a positive opk on cd14 but on cd16 the line is half dark. could cd16 still be positive. Now the temp I took on cd 14 was taken about 1 hr late. Also on cd 16 my cervix was high and open. That is why I'm confused on my ov dates.

Thanks :) Still really early, blood test results came in at 24mg HCG, but it would have only implanted a few days ago, so really not to worried about that and have another test booked in for Monday, so will hopefully have risen a bit by then :)

Though about going over there Pugglesworth, just don't want to jump the gun on myslef to quick lol Once i get these bloods done on Monday I will feel a bit better :)

So I started my opks. Got do cd 15 and AF was back again!!!! Sick of these 2 week cycles. Must be cause I'm b/feeding. Never had this happen before even win all my m/cs etc.

I agree with Kazper, Michelle. In the charting list, everyone's temps vary greatly. For me, my temp is around 36 pre-Ov, then 36.4 after Ov, abd 36.7 in pregnancy. Michelle temps vary for everyone so it's hard to say what would be a higher than normal temp. Some women notice a temp drop before af and some once af starts. Perhaps a temp rise at the end of cycle could indicate pregnancy, but again every one is different. Yip have the study I am taking part in tomorrow morning, they do a pregnancy test in the morning, though I think I might be a bit early to show anything up if I was, though they say their tests are sensitive to 5 days after conception and I am 7DPO so might show up? Hi. I use Fertility Friend app and it has an introdutory email lesson thing that teaches you all about charting. When I started I did CM, temping religiously, and opks from Baby4you, but now I know my cycles I still use opks and cm mostly, and just temp after ovulation to confirm temp rise. I only take folic acid incase I get pregnant (not for conception). Hi Ladies!

Just wanted to introduce myself and ask a couple of questions? I'm so new to this, after 2 "accidental" babies I've never done the TTC thing before :)
My fiance and I have decided we will probably start trying sometime in the next lil while but I'm going to start charting now as I have PCOS and my periods have been through crazy stages over the years so I would love to get an idea of whats actually going on down there haha.

So I have an IUD thats not going to effect my ovulation though is it? I can still track etc? Also with tracking WHERE do I start? Good apps? Do I need to pee on a stick? take my temperature? Cervical Mucus? Wow so much to know about! Also should I be eating anything or taking anything?

Thanks Kazper, I was wondering about cyst, ectopics and the like. Although most likely af will arrive soon. Maybe I will contact my midwife tomorrow and ask her opinion, just to have a plan if af doesn't show.

Seaview I think you should test again. If negative my other thoughts are possible functional cyst which could account for the cramping and late af. I'm 6dpo (although FF says 7dpo, but based on my temp drop I estimate Ov a day later, same as last month too) and I'm not feeling anxious or excited this month for a change. I think I'm just used to disappointment now so I don't want to symptom spot or get my hopes up so I'm just waiting to think about bfp/bfn until I start spotting or become late. I'm not sure when af is due as my luteal was always 8dpo, but last month it was weird and it was around 10 days (although I had spotting and light flow for 4 days before af started fully). Just thought I'd check in and share how I'm going this tww. Have you tested today Seaview? Everyone's bodies work differently with chemicals. Thanks for the tips guys, might stick with the one I have then get another one if that doesn't seem to do the trick.

Though on a positive note the opk seems to be working got a really strong second line this morning, did one on the dip stick and another one on the cassette one just in case I wasn't reading the first one right lol and both were strong!

Wanted to also add that 1 d.p is enough for BBT charting. When you ovulate your temperature should rise by 0.2 of a degree or more (mine goes from 36.4/36.5 to 36.8/36.9) - so easy for me to tell the different with just 1 d.p. thermometer. You don't need a 2 dp thermometer, but I guess some 1dp thermometers aren't actually accurate to 1dp (not reliable), so they'd cause an issue. Just try temping with what you have, first thing when you wake up, and see what your temps do :)
