So we promptly went out and got a $40 old-style crochet one like we had when we were kids. BEST EVER! We'd put her up against the foot of the couch and she'd kick and bounce herself. Sure, it's got no toys hanging off it, but you can put a playgym arch thing over baby.

Our was too upright so DH just used his man strength (cough.. splutter...) and bent it back so it lay flatter and it was great after that! Ours had quite thin metal tubing though so it may have been easier to 'bend' back.

These are the best things ever- mine was worth its weight in gold when DD was little. You wouldn't put a baby in a bouncinette without supervision anyway.

Leish I didn't have one for my first child but it worked great with #2.

Sparkle I'm looking to make a soft cover for my one (I have the same type as you) but they are fine to use without - just lay a thin blanket on before putting baby on. Otherwise they get "honeycomb" marks on the back of their heads lol.

Only thing to watch is if you have an older child, they may try to help you by bouncing the baby rather energetically - so I did with my little sister and she flipped right over!

We have been given one, nothing overly flash but also has a row of toys that can hang over the baby so they can play and quite happily keep themselves content. The real basic ones from my mums day don't have those I don't think

The elevation is good for reflux babies; the personal space feel is good for toddler siblings; and the baby can watch you. They're great for letting the baby lie in while you're trying to eat dinner too (rock with one foot)!

Basic ones are quite cheaply available on TM so really so can have the whole range of price for a bouncinette.
