I have found mine quite good, but yesterday, the flies were terrible, so I am thinking maybe the box is getting past it? We have a expra or whatever they are called in the lounge that reduces the flies heaps (bliking animals attract them) but weren't keen on having one in the kitchen nor do I like using spray in there. We have had a couple of the boxes in the living room for a week now and I don't find them at all effective. No reduction at all in flies. Oh-oh... well don't I just feel like a bit of a nob... 

they seem to work really really well.  For a couple of weeks.  Ours seems pretty ineffective now (lasts 2 months, my butt!).  Bummer!!

They don't die in the box - it just attracts them  (which is why it wouldn't work outdoors) and poisons them - I saw 2 flies just drop from the air!  It hasn't attracted any extras inside either, not that I know of anyway
