Thanks for the information! I have been doing my research and have picked up a peapods and a fuzzibuns. I can't believe it! I'm not even half way through my pregnancy and I've become a nappy addict. I've learnt so much about all the differant nappies and inserts etc. etc.
Trademe is a bad place. I've been stuck on there for hours bidding on nappies I don't need for months and going gaa gaa over all the cute prints. I think it's time to hand over the computer to safer hands. lol.

I'm in Loburn at the moment about 40k north of Christchurch, but having the joys of moving house the week before baby is due! Must be mad - or maybe just feels like it! Good for the old stress levels that's for sure.

i use both PP and fuzzi's but can't say which i prefer. the fuzzi's definately have the better colours, but PP are cheaper and IMHO just as good as fuzzi's.
but...i've now found joel-eze nappies and these are a new fave of mine. great colours and good price. it also helps that her hubby works with my hubby so i can get them really quickly. andrea's just added a pic of charli on her website

babyonboard...i tried a mommy's touch on charli and only used it a couple of times. it's now jack's (hot pink and all) i would suggest getting a couple of different brands, fuzzi, PP and joel-eze are 3 i highly recommend and then see which ones you like best. remember trademe is a great place to buy and sell nappies MCN are so popular these days that they hold their value really well

tricia, i don't use liners in jack's nappies as the 'yuck' just rolls right off. for charli, if i suspect she's 'due to poo' i'll put a liner in as it's easier to clean (i'm lazy like that)

Tricia, where abouts are you in NZ? There are heaps of expos on this week for real nappy week (11th - 18th). Pop along to one as it's always good to have a play around with the nappies and perhaps hire a kit/buy a trial nappy.

As for the liners, Fuzzis sell washable fleece liners (these protect the fleece on the actual nappy) and flushable liners. I use liners with mine. You can get flushable liners from Snazzipants or Fuzzibuns but I just use the Johnsons ones from the supermarket. You don't NEED to use them, most people just rinse, but I prefer to use them coz then I can ditch the "yuck" part and my nappies don't get stained...

I'm quite keen on using either Peapods or Fuzzi Bunz but wonder if you can use nappy liners with them? My mother in law is convinced that we should but I'm not sure if they will interfere with the way the nappies work.

when I was looking at modern cloth nappies and comparing them all I did all of my "research" at www.thenappynetwork.org.nz

failing that there are quite a few agents for various nappy companies (me included, I do Fuzzi Bunz) so if you had any specific questions about any brand I'm sure we'll be able to help

I'm a soon - to - be new mum and have always known that I want to use cloth nappies. Now a days there are so many types. And i Have so many questions. I like the idea of one size (because of obvious cost reduction) but they look so bulky on newborns etc. I've been looking all over the internet but it just seems to confuse me more, prices are differant and materials are differant. LOL Vanessa - with all that stuffing must make for a well-padded bottom! Maya is in the HH trainers at night and I stuff them heaps and she looks like Donald Duck

I've found the PP leak with only the hemp, but last well with either the hemp+booster or a prefold. My FB's also leak if I just use an insert, but not with insert+booster. Maybe the fat gremlins are just big wetters

i use peapods on jack overnight (12hrs) and don't have leakage. i stuff them with a prefold, microfibre insert and a hemp insert just to be sure. the inserts that come with peapods are great after ALOT of washes. for charli overnight i use one of them with a prefold stuffed into whatever nappy and no leaks.

Well I got a couple of peapods so I could test them out and compare them. They leaked for us and I also noticed that after only a couple of washes they are already piling...not so noticable on the white but it is on the dark fabric.

Grrrr, FB's!!!!

I emailed 2.5 weeks ago to tell them of my missing nappy with no explaination, and still no reply ... so I emailed yesterday with a read receipt asking why they hadn't replied. Well they got my email and still no response, so I emailed a couple of hours ago saying that I see they got my email and hadn't replied, and that I think their customer service is shocking, and even though I have heard their product is good I might have to buy peapods when I need larger sizes after this ... still no reply!!!!!

yeah pompino ones we got can be used with insert, or as a cover over real naps...nice kinda towelling...quite thick...we bought them at babyonline by sylvia park..quite a few different styles as to how they do up too...but only in natural cover so might turn some people off...no jungle patterns etc there! Peapods are quite new and have only just started being stocked by the Baby Factory.

And as I understand it, they moved manufacture to China, I assume to be able to produce more.

this has been interesting as i only just noticed the PP ones at babycity today for the first time...huge range they had and heaps of colours...we have already bought a couple of Pompino ones - how do they compare to PP etc???
PP seem pretty cheap compared to a lot of others out there and guess being in babycity they have suddenly been mass produced? is that right? Snazzipants are a fitted nappy so don't need an insert... but they do need a cover to make them waterproof.

Peapods don't do a trial nappy as such (as Amy hasn't set up her agents as formally as Fuzzis do). But if you buy from me then I would definitely consider it. I tend to do all sorts of crazy things to get people to buy cloth!

I just found out that I am getting an overlocker given to me too so I'll be sewing nappies up soon! Yahoooo! I have a crazy nappy obsession... I had a look at PP's at the Baby Factory. The $20 price includes a prefold (fold three times then stuff) but you can buy microfibre liners for $5 each. I'm not sure about PPs but Fuzzis do a 30 day money back guarantee on their trial nappies. So you could trial both without the risk of being stuck with a nappy you didn't like. i have a peapod, it was the first cloth nap i bought. they are great nappies, i never have any leakage and the medium fits both charli and jack!
i've just got a fuzzi from TM which should arrive tomorrow so i'm curious to see which i like better. the PP's are cheaper....but fuzzi's are cooler colours....you see the dilema! (sp?)

i dont have peapods but was at a nappiccino today and a lady had some and we were discussing them. apparently the fit on them has changed and the size is more accurate than it used to be, a recent change apparently. I must admit the colur range of FB's looks better but the lining colour in the PP's is something to watch out for.

Baby boy is due 1 June so I'll let you know how I go in a few month's time.

I've used both & have found them both to be good. I've used them overnight with extra boosters & have had no leaks from either. Nikki's review was pretty spot on. I think your comments are great Nikki as a nappy user and a seller.

I've tried both (we mainly use Fuzzis, but I wanted to try the competition too to provide honest feedback to my customers). This might sound biased and I apologise if it does but I personally found the PPs hard to fit to Caitlin (large thighs and small-ish waist) trying to get the legs right AND the waist was a bit of an issue and we ended up changing her bed in the midle of the night, NOT IMPRESSED! . I also didn't like the dark fleece as it was hard to tell if it was actually clean or not I have on occassion had to re-wash an FB after a whopping explosion as there was still "left overs" on the fleece. How can you tell with the PPs when the fleece is the same colour as the "left overs" BLEUGH!

The PPs are cheaper than the FBs so they are great for someone wanting to try some cloth nappies. But as with all things, you get what you pay for. PPs generally last 100 washes before they start to deteriorate where FBs last 300 washes. So yeh, like Nikki said the FBs are made of better fabric. It would be a shame if people bought inferior cloth nappies (not that I'm saying PPs are inferior!) and that turned them off all cloth nappies.

As for the ethical side - I personally would rather spend a bit extra on a product and know that I'm not supporting companies that cut costs by paying their peanuts

The difference between Peapods and Fuzzis is largely ethical... Fuzzis are made in the US by ladies who sew for them, and as I understand it, Peapods are made in China... I can only assume by people who are paid quite a bit less for their labour.

The other difference is the materials... Peapods fleece is thicker than Fuzzi fleece, and the PUL is different. To be honest, I suspect that Fuzzis materials are higher quality.

Ooo that was a bashing of my own nappies! But I like to be honest about them.

The bonuses of Peapods are that there are really only two sizes you will need to get babe through to potty training. (Altho if you have a front wetter then the rise might become a problem later on)

Also the leg elastic is a bit tighter than Fuzzis which means less leg gapage with night stuffing... without being too tight (IMO).

The inserts are different too - Peapods come with a hemp/cotton flat insert which you fold in three, and Fuzzis generally come with microfibre. Both have different advantages but seeing as you can stuff both with anything, this isn't an issue that would cause a problem for anyone (I think).

I hope I'm not out of line reviewing Fuzzis and Peapods like this... but I feel I was objective about both as a user, not as a seller.

Peapods are cheaper as they cost only $20 each form baby factory (I think).
I have heard great things about both, they both need to be replaced as baby gets older and grows to fit which I thought was the only problem with them but we are going for peapods for baby number 2.
When Nikki came over to show off the mommystouch OSFA nappies she showed us some peapods and they looked good.
Maybe buy a few peapods and a few fuzzis to try each out on baby and work form your own experience, cause what works for one might not work for another.
