There's a book and DVD called Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp which uses the technique to help sooth and settle an upset child. Trademe has some copies, and Amazon has great reviews of it. I"m in Rangiora and use the CHCH library which has a copy.

From what I understand it's wrapping the child in cloth so their arms are close to their bodies. This helps as baby's often wake themselves with their arms.

WHen/ how do you learn to swaddle? For DD we used flat cotton rectangles which we wrapped around her.

For DS I used a Cozy Coccoon which was scrummy but he outgrew it pretty quickly.

So, then we moved onto a SwaddleMe wrap which was great.

From there I made my own reversible wraps (reversible so that all the seams were hidden)

I just used a muslin wrap - the actual swaddle blankets are expensive - and they grow out of them sooo quickly! My little one has her muslin wrap as her snuggly now - covers her face with it to go to sleep! Dont think she could do that with a swaddle balnket

Just wondering if anyone uses/used a swaddling blanket to help baby sleep and if so which one? Amazon sell something call Miracle Blanket which looks great - is there something similar sold in NZ?
