Well she was stuck there for an hour I feel sorry for her and I gave her a big hug when she was out. But I made it clear while she was in there that it was her own doing. Well we shall see if she tries that trick again.

We know we need to perservere with timeout. She's been pushing it since Friday, I guess practically speaking it could easily be 2-4 weeks before we start seeing more positive reactions. But in the meantime I've noticed she often pushes buttons to start the timeout power-struggle between 4-5pm most days. So I'm reinstating her midday sleep. Hannah has been testing timeouts in our place for the last week, as you probably know already. She runs off, gets into the computer, squeals, grabs her toys etc. Well today after she ran downstairs once I brought her back upstairs (our living areas are upstairs) and locked the kiddie gate at the top of the stairs. On one of her next escapades, she went to the top stair landing and slammed the sliding door behind her - and it's now stuck. I can't get it back on the runner. She is trapped on the top landing. So she's now done her 2 minutes and said her apology, but she has to wait about half an hour until Uncle Shane comes home (he finishes earlier than DH).

Is it ok to laugh (quietly) at her predicament?
