I put Sam on formula from two weeks so wanted to stop my milk supply. For the formula, you really shouldn't keep it for more than a couple of hours - I can't remember exactly but I think it has to do with the formula deteriorating after a while? As well as being more prone to bacteria growing etc.

As for your milk supply, you don't necessarily have to do anything - but if you find yourself getting engorged it is suggested to express off just a little bit, and eventually your breasts will adjust. We just got thru 3 nappies in about 3 minutes!! Looks like the Karicare is working well! Might swap to just formula and that way I know how much he is getting so I can sort his routine a bit better. I changed to Karicare Gold+ yesterday and so far it's been awesome! He even slept for 7 hours last night and he didn't spill any while I fed him. We tried Karicare last night and he seemed quieter but I suppose it will take a few days. He's not so bunged up that's for sure!

Another question for you - If he doesn't want all of his bottle in one go, how safe is it to keep until you should throw it away? as the other ladies have said, different babies like different formula. we have always used karicare with charli because when she did have heinz nurture it upset her tummy and her spills would be chunky like cottage cheese

i found Karicare bunged u rhyley so changed to Nuture gold - which we stuck with till he changed to normal nuture at 6 months.

Some babies are perfectly fine on a particular formula yet other babies can be adversely affected. Sam was terrible on Heinz Nurture Gold, it made him terribly windy, uncomfortable and constipated yet I've read heaps of other babies like Rhiannon (beautiful name!!) can take Heinz Nurture gold fine.

We put Sam back on Karicare light blue and he has since been getting constipated and uncomfortable again so we are going to change again. It's hard to know which one to get because it takes a few days for it to go through their system and for you to notice a difference.

I have heard that the Karicare Gold is good for digestion so that's the one I'm going to try now.

we used nurture gold on rhiannon and she was fine on that for a while, not all babies like the same forumla

Hello - we've been giving Rohan (5 weeks old) formula at night to help him sleep (and us!) but he seems to be getting windy and uncomfortable. Is that just a side effect of formula - we are using Heinz Nurture Gold?
