I was a bit concerned that stains might occur - would I get around that by soaking the pooey ones when we got home? Maya's daycare (which the gremlins will attend) are OK about cloth, I wouldn't go so far as to say they were *happy* about it, but they were OK. I provided a lidded bucket for them to be stored in and they lined it with a plastic bag and basically just chucked the dirty nappies into it without rinsing or anything and then I took the whole plastic bag home, soaked overnight and then rinsed and hung out the next morning. And that was with flats, pins and covers. whats weird is cloth (flats) was all there really was back in the day, and daycare didnt kick up a stink then.
I just think its rude to make the parents fork out for sposies if they choose to use cloth flat or mcn esp since daycare is so expensive to begin with.

Piper goes to an in-home daycare so we are lucky as our carer doesnt mind cloth nappies, as 2 of the kids including Piper has them. I think most people think of cloth nappies as flats with pins and fluffy covers. It really frustrates me when they talk about hygiene when they have to store and then dispose of hundreds of disposables per week. Yeah I was going to provide this - stuffed nappies, liners and scented wetbag but was wondering whether they would rinse them so will ask. Was shocked when I was told how unhygenic they thought they would be (they take out disposables to rubbish skip every couple of hours) as I wondered what they would do with a toddler's knickers if they soiled them? They could hardly chuck those out so not much different in my book esp. as Kaleb is only pooing every couple of days at moment.
One daycare said straight off no problem while another said they'd consider it only after I explained what about the MCN. I talked to the kindy that Isaac starts next week and she said that they don't mind changing a cloth nappy. I think I will make sure I send a stuffed pocket and bag to make it nice and easy for them. Can't see how a pocket nappy is any different from a disposable! The creche Han attends didn't use cloth, so I had to send her with sposies (grrr as it cost me a fortune!)

I think if I did it again I'd just turn up with the cloth and tell them that is what I use (I think Emma was brave enough to do that!) but I'd make sure I made it easy for them to use - provide a wetbag with scented stuff like Stacey said, pre-stuff pockets, use disposable liners etc.

I think most creches just have an aversion to cloth because they think flats. I have managed to change the daycare's (I am sending Josh to) nappy policy to include cloths. They will take them so long as I proveid somewhere to store them, they are all ready to go (stuffed). They said they will rince anything off and then just store them as they need to be stored.

You will find a lot of daycares thing of cloth as flat whites and pins. I had to take Josh into the nursery to show them what they were. As soon as the head teacher saw them she was like so easy no extra work.

My best mate is a 2IC in a daycare and she said that they don't mind modern cloth so long as they are provided with a wetbag with scent in it (like tea tree oil or lavender or something) and that they are pre-stuffed if they are pockets. They don't like prefolds or flats at all. We are currently looking at daycares for next year and have been surprised at the mixed reactions we've had when asking about cloth nappies. Quite a few have said they are unhygienic to have lying around... SO was wondering from those of you who have children in daycare-
Do they use cloth nappies? Or do you use sposies?
How many nappies do you send with your child? (since I assume you wouldn't have extra there?)
If cloth what do you supply for them to keep them in? Bucket? Wet bag?
Do they rinse pooey nappies for you or just 'bucket' them?
Anything anyone else finds useful to add?
