    Angelcare Movement and  Sound Monitor
Gold Winner in the OHbaby! Awards 2011. A 2-in-1 monitor that detects sounds and movement, and also features a digital temperature display. RRP$355.99 fromwww.littlefunkymonkey.co.nz

Issue 18Monitors4Good bits: There are sensor pads which lie under the baby's mattress detecting their tiny movements and setting off an alarm if those movements cease for 20 seconds. It's certainly a feature which could put anxious parents' minds at ease.
Also reassuring is the optional "tic" sound which lets you know that the monitor is working even when baby is sleeping quietly.
I also liked the design of the angel shaped monitor with its "halo" night light. It looks cute in the baby's nursery. There is also an alarm if the temperature in baby's room gets too high or too low.
Tricky bits: It does feel as if you need a degree to use it, and while you're working it out, the loud alarm going off on the baby unit could be almost too much for a sleep-deprived mum.
I found the buttons on the parent unit got stuck if I pushed them in too hard and the full colour digital control screen was difficult to read from certain viewpoints.
Bottom line: It wasn't my favourite among the monitors I reviewed, but it obviously appeals to many people because it ranked so highly in the OHbaby! Awards.

Was very skeptical when I was given one of these at my baby shower, surely I would not be that neurotic as a first time Mum? Oh yes, I sure was. I loved every aspect about this! I was able to sleep well knowing my baby was fine, the night light was absolutely perfect and it was great to be able to see the Nursery Room temperature

If it was not for this monitor, this first time Mum would be a basket case...I LOVE it. The peace of mind it brings is behind words! I reccommend it to any mother, it is expensive, but totally worth every cent we paid!

Found this monitor awesome, but must admit we only used the pads for movement for a month or so, then just used the monitor. I kept forgetting to switch the alarm off in the middle of the night if I had to get bubs out of bed to feed, and since it goes off if no movement was felt after 20 seconds, it usually woke the entire house up. Apart from that, had no problems at all and would recomment it to others.

I'm a convert. We bought this monitor when my daughter was 3 months old and had to be slept on her tummy. It gives you peace of mind (I was in there every 5 mins to check she was breathing before this). Excellent sound control, I've had interference twice, but only for a short time. The temperature display, I've found to be reasonably accurate and very useful, especially coming into Winter. We had a power cut, but was so pleased the monitor continued to work during that time. The 2 things I think people should be aware of is that it sounds very much like a fire alarm. We got up 3 times to the fire alarm going off sporadically and had no idea! Yes it did happen in the middle of the night. And the light on the parent unit is very bright. This has certainly been one of our best purchases for peace of mind.

LOVE this monitor, I do not think I would have got any sleep without this with our 1st. Was the best investment we ever made. Wilth our daughters bedroom being on the other end of the house it was nice to wake in the middle of the night and know she was ok without having to get up out of bed every 10 minutes to check on her. Thankfully it only went off once, and the alarm was enought to wake her up out of her deep sleep....and give me heart failure hehe It was even useful when our daughter moved out of her cot into a big bed, we knew when she was up playing as the alarm would go off. LOVE LOVE LOVE this product

I absolutely love this monitor!!! A friend at work told me she had one and couldnt live without it! So I went straight out and got one just in time for my first babys birth and so glad I did. Ive now used it with baby #2 as well and its just been such a great investment! Ive only ever heard the alarm once with my second baby and Ive never run so fast in my life lol, when i got there she was awake and stirring but breathing (thank god) may have been the alarm that woke her or maybe it was a false alarm but to me doesnt matter, it still got me in that room as fast as possible!! the sound part also works brilliantly, no distortion or fuzziness and love that you can see the room temp!

I owe most of my sleep to this monitor, I would be one of those parents who would be getting up a few times to check baby is breathing. My first born quite often used to hold her breath, and the alarm went off when she was 4mnths old. The doctor said the alarm would have woken her. Phew. It is getting a second use for our prem baby. Bonus is the portable unit can be a fair distance away from the mother unit. Great for when you want to head outdoors during nap times :)

Love this monitor, I especially like it how I can see hte temp of the babies room, it also can reach a long distance for reception which is great when I am outside in the garden:) The alarm has never falsely gone off and one the one time it has was for a very valid reason I am so glad we brought it!

I am such an advocate of this product! Our first daughter was born at 31 weeks, so bringing her home from the hospital where she was on monitors etc we were quite scared and this gave us such piece of mind! On one occasion the alarm went off and she was bluish, I don't even want to know what would have happened if we didn't have this. We also used it with our second daughter and I am sure it made me sleep easier in those early days (when I was able to!), just knowing there was something that would let me know if something was wrong.

I love our angel monitor. We used it with both our girls. It was real peace of mind. We had a couple of false alarms too but fixed the sensitivity. I really recommend this product. I wouldn't have been without it.

I love the Angelcare Monitor! You can't put a price on peace of mind, and that's exactly what this monitor gives us. We have had a couple of false alarms with the movement feature, but it was good to know it was working and we adjusted the sensitivity slightly. I also love the temperature displayed on the parent unit, our daughter sleeps a lot better when her room is at an appropriate temperature! Can't recommend this highly enough, great investment!

Love, love, love this product! Had static problems with another brand of sound/movement monitors and this one is crystal clear. This product actually saved my childs life when she managed to pull a blanket I had hung over the cot rail down and over her face in the night. If it wasn't for the alarm going off I wouldn't have found her until much later and it would have been too late! I have never had a false alarm with it and because both of my children had a nasty habit as small babies of forgetting to breathe it actually meant I could sleep at night without worrying. This is one product I would fully recommend to any parent of a small baby or toddler that sleeps in a cot.

I wouldn't be without my angelcare monitor! My boy was born prematurely and was on apnoea pads at the hospital. I was really cautious about bringing him home without that security. Luckily my angelcare monitor had arrived before I gave birth, and it really helped both of us settle into being at home. Recently, the night light has been particularly useful as we have had a few night terrors. Can't speak highly enough of this product!

We LOVE this angelcare monitor. We actually bought this when our first born was a month or two old. I am a nurse and I guess the old saying is true that a little knowledge is a bad thing, as I have always been overly aware of SIDS or more to the point things I can do to reduce the risks. We originally had another brand that was forever having false alarms - after deciding my heart couldn't cope with any more of these we bought this amazing product. Not once since have we had a false alarm. We are now using this for baby #2 and it goes just the same now as it did when we took it out of the box. I love being able to see what the temperature is in my baby's room at just one look, allowing me to adjust the heating accordingly. I also find a lot of comfort in being able to open my eyes during the night and seeing that little pendulum of the movement sensor swinging away - letting me know all is ok. It is extremely portable, easy to see from across the room, has excellent volume levels to allow you to adjust to the environment and I find very user friendly. This is the one product I always recommend to all of my friends :)

My favourite feature of the Angelcare (we have the 401) is the temp display on the parents unit. The Angelcare takes all the guess work out of making sure our baby's room is at the perfect temp. We too had a couple of false alarms when we used it for our daughter but that was because we had not adjusted the sensitivity when going from the bassinet to a cot. We are now using it for our son who is 6 months old. If it wasn't for the Febuary earthquake our original Angelcare would still be going strong. We replaced the broken one immediately with the same unit and would highly recommend it to all.

This monitor has been an absolute God send. It has given us peace of mind and to know that it will alert us should something be wrong is fantastic. It means you have time to react. It has saved us many sleepless nights when our son transferred from his moses basket into his own room (in his cot). I love the fact that it also gives you the temperature of the baby's room. When I wake in the middle of the night I am relieved to see the little movement bar showing our little man is breathing just fine and that he is nice and warm in his room! A fantastic investment and worth every penny!

After a lot of research I decided that this monitor was going to provide my wife and I with the biggest "piece of mind" and we haven't been dissapointed. We ended up purchasing the 401 that has 2 sensor pads. Being able to look at the monitor and knowing your baby is breathing is basically the best feature of this monitor. In the beginning we had some "false" alarms where the system would "beep loudly" notifying us that no breathing was being detected, we quickly learned we needed to have the sensor pads in the right position otherwise we would be woken constantly. Being able to take the monitor to the letterbox or to the clothes is also another great feature. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to purchase a baby monitor.
