07/11/2017 -Initially I was a little apprehensive about using a Duet and whether it would be bigger and harder to manoeuvre than a single buggy. However, I was surprised to learn that the Duet, with space for side-by-side seats for two toddlers, is no wider than the wheel base of the Urban Jungle buggy. When it arrived, the handle bars gave the overall appearance that it was wider, but I quickly found that the buggy could go into all of the same spaces, including the narrow aisles in local shops, through doorways.

When using the buggy as a single, a spacious side basket clips on in place of a second seat, and on our first trip to the mall we quickly loaded this up with everything from clothing purchases to gardening equipment for our spring garden. It took a little while to master taking the side basket on and off, but once set up the side basket came in handy in lots of situations! All the extra space meant that I didn’t need to cram things under the seat, and that I was able to keep my hands free for the baby and for shopping.
On our first walk up Mount Eden my husband immediately commented on the suspension, and despite the wheels being smaller than those of the Urban Jungle that we used previously, the ride seemed just as smooth. We had no problems with bumps or getting up over curbs. My husband also loved the adjustable height of the handle bar, making it easy for us to both comfortably push the buggy.
The added control of the handbrake made coming down the steep slope feel so much safer and easier.
The pram folds easily with one hand, and conveniently locks into place once folded. It does take up a lot of space in our boot, and as we often go away for the weekends, it can be tricky to fit the buggy and everything else. However to be fair, it lies flatter than our previous buggy and, when out and about in town, fits easily into our station wagon.
My favourite thing about the Mountain Buggy Duet is that is can adapt as my family grows. It’s great to know that, when we have another child, a capsule or second seat can be clipped on in place of the side basket, and replaced again when needed. Overall I was really happy with the Mountain Buggy Duet as a single. I was really impressed that it operated as smoothly and easily as a single buggy, and I love the simplicity of not needing to change buggies as my family changes. Bring on baby number two!
